Finance Director - Advance Welding, Cleckheaton, UK
Advance Welding is the UK’s leading manufacturer of innovative Electrofusion Welding Equipment for the utility, industrial and building markets.
Being part of a larger corporate comes the requirement for enhanced monthly reporting and greater financial transparency. A Financial Controller delivers the month/year end and liaises with the auditors.
You will work closely with the Financial Controller to enhance financial reporting, whilst mentoring and training the Financial Controller and broader finance team.
Manufacturing experience is essential as is experience within an SME and or large corporate.
Specifically you will be responsible for:
(i) Adding Value
- Play a key role with the Leadership Team, Indutrade Senior Vice President and Indutrade UK CFO & to deliver sustainable business growth & drive better operational, strategic & commercial decisions
- Develop & deliver strategic & tactical plans with the Leadership team to optimize profitability, growth prospects, operational execution, working capital management and budget/forecast delivery
- Ensure a high level of employee engagement throughout the company by effective motivation, coaching, mentoring and talent development
- Drive sustainable working capital improvements
- Lead data analysis & business improvement projects
- Support resolution of critical issues as/when they arise
- Undertake ad-hoc value adding projects
(ii) Financial Reporting
- Prepare, or oversee preparation of, monthly management accounts, forecasts, budgets & statutory accounts for the company
- Lead & develop a small, talented finance team
- Drive clear, business-wide understanding of where the business does & doesn’t make money
- Provide accurate & timely management information to underpin effective decision making at all levels within the company
(iii) Compliance
- Maintain compliance with Group guidelines on the key financial, control & approval processes and provide leadership, guidance and support to the company to implement robust & effective improvements where required
- Primary contact for Auditors, Insurers, Group Treasury & Indutrade HO team
- Manage the company’s tax affairs (inc VAT, Corporation Tax, Payroll taxes, P11d etc)
- Lead sustainability reporting (esp. Scope 3 & carbon accounting as requirements are developed)
- Ensure payroll fully complies with legislation
- Prepare ONS submissions

- Whilst the key quality we are looking for is an excellent ability to lead, manage, support & develop people in the company, other attributes that the successful candidate would ideally have are as follows:
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
- Previous experience supporting & challenging operational & commercial teams
- A team player with a ‘can do’ attitude who is prepared to ‘roll your sleeves up’ to achieve the objective
- Capable of taking a ‘big picture view’ without losing sight of relevant details
- A strong desire to add real sustainable value to the company, rather than simply ‘preparing the numbers’
- Builds strong relationships at all levels, both internally & externally
- Excellent communicator & listener
- Highly ambitious, both personally & for the company
(IV ) Systems
- Driving efficiency and delivering commercial benefits requires IT systems.
- The Financial Director must understand Financial systems and be capable of enhancing connectivity across different IT architecture.
